What do I do (if wrecked)?

Say I'm on a lone ride, or riding with 2-3 other people who I don't know.

I went down, or one of these people go down, what should I do? Of course if he's injured we'd call the ambulance and let the police handle everything. But if we're in the middle of no where and only the bike is damaged and none of us has a truck to tow the bike anywhere or know anyone in the area.. what should we do?

Noob question I know! But gotta be ready!

haha, we did all of that, didn't we? LOL. Question is when I am with some strangers who aren't as cool as you or the Regulators, or when I'm leading a ride and someone goes down.

I know you'd come help even if you're an hour away but I'd like to know what to in a general situation.

One thing I always do when riding with new people is to make sure we exchange emergency contact info if someone goes down.

I ride regularly with 3-4 guys and I have their wives/girlfriends/parents numbers in my phone.
As far as transport, most of us will stop to help a downed rider including arranging pick up.

Another really inexpensive option is to be a member of Triple A.

For just a few dollars a month you can get free towing within a 200 mile radius among other benefits.

Myself, I don't feel right leaving anyone on their own to find a way home. I will go and get the truck if need be.

I always wanted to ask the same question too. Most of the time I ride by myself and just wish someone would see me if I go down and help. I have a paper in my wallet that has emergency contact info.

If you ride by yourself on backroads, at least let someone know of the planned route, and your approx return time. That way someone will be looking for you if something unfortunate happens.

Heck if you don't have family or close friends, PM me when you leave and return.. I'll call the calvary if needed

If the bike appears clearly totalled and the rider has full coverage insurance, probably just call a tow truck.

Otherwise we typically have someone that stays roadside, with the bike, until one of the other riders get a truck.

And then we hold the bike ransom until we get $60 for gas.

Kidding about that last part. lol

First time my buddy crashed and totaled his bike. He rode on the back of mine til we got home to get his truck. We moved his bike a little bit, but by the time we came back, ambulance, police, tow truck, and all that were at the scene. Thankfully it hadn't been loaded up yet. If you leave the bike, you might wanna leave a note or something, so the ambulance/police don't have to search for you since they have no idea if you rocketed off the bike and you lay dying somewhere.

2nd crash, the guys bike was alright. Started up and ran, so he just rode it himself.

Usually, on 3090 in particular, they will give you 1 hour to get the bike out of there. Otherwise, they are towing it. And, if you call the ambulance, the DPS picks up on the dispatch and they usually beat the ambulance there. Once that happens, expect a ticket. Although, I have seen them let people make it on 3090 if there is no property damage.

The county sherrifs seem nicer and resentful to the State Trooper. The Troopers, on the otherhand, will show no mercy.

My experience.
