mid-pipe questions

I am just wondering and thought you all may have some good suggestions about a mid-pipe. I have an 07 R6, first, would it be beneficial for me to eliminate the cat? Second, is there any draw backs to getting a guy at midas to fab one vs. buying an expensive one? Lastly, once you get a mid-pipe, what adjustments must be made and is there a noticable difference with one?

You have to have a cat to pass inspection, or else you have to lean out your EFI, most bikes are getting away without cats now cause they leaned the EFI and it passes the emissions without installing cats, but with that lean adjusted EFI many bikes suffer from dead spots in certain RPM's, Yamaha, Triumph, KTM is having that trouble

so, wtf? What can you do to increase some horse power with the exhaust? Does the cat even make that much of a difference?
Couldn't you just adj. it for the inspection and reverse it once you pass?

That's what I would do...But you would have to know exactly how much to lean it out in order to pass it...

I'm not too sure about what the pros/cons are of removing the cat from a bike, it's a pretty new deal and I haven't really read up on it yet...Seems like you were a year off and should have gotten an 06

WTF? This is not California.
They don't really check exhausts during inspection.
They usually just check the bare minimums.

Haha I did this 2 weeks ago to badapples bike. You have to change the headers from 06-09 to the s model headers. But the headers have to be modified. Then you have to put a o2 sensor bung in the headers. Then put a slipon on it.

i have a solution for ya...

I have a 07 r6 as well...what i did to eliminate that monstrous cat was install the 2005 r6 headers.

some modifications are required to the headers but nothing a beginner could not do themselves with a drill and a drill-bit at home.

Modification to headers:
must drill the holes on the header flanges making them bigger so they accept the bolts from the motor.

get a muffler shop to install a bung for the 02 sensor. be sure to place it in a spot on the headers that will clear all body work and suspension.

you will have to make a exhaust pipe and custom fit it along with its hanger.

here is some pics and a short video of mine...just note...that you will need to get a power commander as you can see from my video...flames are not good.

If you would rather have someone else do this for you...pm me or romeo36. Im sure we could work something out.

U would have to cut off the cat. Bend a midpipe or buy one that is already made. I don't think they make em any more tho
