So while I was gone in Las Vegas...

My roommate took my 05 f4i without asking.. :P which I don't care about at all he just rode it to work..

however he didnt ask me and I took my key to Vegas with me...

he happened to find my 08 1000RR key which was stolen a while back but I leave the key on my desk just to remember her by *sniffle* It's not even the same size key...

I can't find a google image of both keys.. but the 08 1000RR key is NOT the same as the F4i key it's bigger.. anyway, it started the bike right up and he drove it to work and the gas light came on, he went to get gas and it didnt work for the gas tank :P

he's really lucky he made it home lol.. but I can't believe that an 08 1k key worked on my 05 f4i...

he didnt force it at all and it worked I told him I didnt believe him but it sure did work.

/boggle.

Haha that's crazy man. A friend was just telling me something like that happened to her at discount tire. They used another customers key and it started her car right up. It was a Honda too, lol!

yea, back in highschool my buddy and I had similar vintage toyota trucks. our keys both worked in eachothers vehicles. I forget who started it, but we would move each others trucks during the day. It got pretty ridiculous.

A while back ago I gave my sister a ride to Bell's with 2 other friends. We come out and there is a car just like mine like 2 spaces before mine. I tell our other 2 friends to just stand next to the other car and my sister totally got in the wrong car. We all just walked away and got in mine. She was was wondering where we were going til she saw my car pull out and she jumped out and hauled to my car. We were laughing so hard.

actually they are the same keys..... just the shoulders are milled back on the newer ones. so the new ones could fit the old ones, but the old wont fit the new. Also the ignition tolerances are way lower than the gas caps for some reason. That would explain it not working the gas cap. You would think it would be the other way around, but i dont know......

Very common in all vehicles.

Chevy used to be really bad about this also. Actually talked a lady into letting me use her keys to get mine out when I managed to lock them in the truck going to eat dinner. She didnt believe me at first and actually let her open my truck and the look on her face was priceless.

On another occasion actually got into another truck and started it and when I went to grob my shifter it wasnt there and realized the truck I was in was a automatic and I drove a standard.

My wife's Chevy Malibu key fob would unlock Ford Explorers for some odd reason.
It was strange, almost every Ford Explorer we tried, she could lock and unlock.

Yea I once was checking out a alarm and locked my keys in my patrol car a 2002 Ford Crown Vic. So while waiting for a friendly wrecker to so, just for grin I began putting in spare keys to other patrol cars in (thinking they're all crown vics) and nothing. It wasn't till I was just goofing that I put my 96 mustang key in and POP it unlocked. YAY ME

Wow. I have unlocked other cars with my remote lock, but that is pretty easy. Kinda scary to have it be that easy. Probably the older the bike is too, the easier it is since things get worn.
