When buying a bike from an individual seller...

What items do I need besides the bike itself?

The seller is willing to take it to Motorcycles Unlimited for the inspection and drop it off to me.

What else do I need?

Title?

Owners Manual?

Anything else?

What steps need to be taken with transferring the title?

Thx!!!!

You already mentioned the magic letters, Motorcycles Unlimited. So you are good.

But check this out as well.

130U from TXDOT, and prefereably get it for Harris County if you will be registering in Harris County.

It is rare to find a bike that has not been seperated from it's owner's manual. One day I will find the storage place with all of the bike owner's manuals....

2nd set of keys from the owner if they have them, they can be expensive depending on make/model.

130U the first time is very important, otherwise requires additional visit with Seller...

Oh, and don't date anything in case you have delays; after 30 days you have penalties

I have a 2009 FZ6 and love it. Take it easy before you really open it up.

Deal didn't work out - inspection turned up some prior wreck damage that seller swears bike was only dropped but damage looks like crash; so I passed. Mechanically it was okay, but it seemed like the seller was not being candid about the damage so oh well....on to the next one....

I want my FZ6. *sad face*

sorry to hear...bikes are a dime a dozen....I'm sure the one for you will come along eventually. being honest and open when selling/buying is obviously important and if you feel the seller wasn't being straight forward...move on. Like in my FS thread, I clearly identify to potential buyers that the bike has never been down. thanks to hotnanas for the awesome photoshop job.
