Sorry someone beat me to it. I'm a noob so no sarcasm here, just friendly jokes ;-)

SV650 is really good "starter" bike and they can be very potent at the tracks too. But if you're getting one of these, get the 2nd generation (2003 and later) model because finding parts is just much easier.

i started out with a 750. it is powerful so you wont get bored quick like with a 250. if you have self control and will take it slow for the first couple months then go for it. just take it easy. my opinion.

Welcome. Both of those statements are true. I also drive a 2fiddy but an older model. I've seen some of the newer 2fiddy's in CraigsList for way less than showroom price and they do look good and might be a bit "sportier" ergonomically.

you'll get bored on a 750 or 1000 too fast, get a turbo hybusa dog. That way you'll never be bored.
