word: its too dangerous to drive a few miles to your moms, meanwhile you must have been driving on a bald tire for weeks

Sometimes you misjudge and try to squeeze that last mile out of a tire. Especially in these months when money is real tight. I know I have done this and I know many a rider guilty of this.

exactly. take my car for example. Who knew registration/inspection stickers started falling apart at the 2yr mark. I mean, what the ? I shouldn't have to pay to prove my car is in working order.

SAFE

pushed the bike home, didnt want to chance it. apparently charging a phone by USB takes much longer to charge. during my last post, the battery was allready dead again. and my phone turned off mid posting to let you all know i was going to push it. sorry for those that called/text and received no answer.

I also am also one who dislikes neglect on bikes. (especially when its your only form of transportation) but sometimes life hits you pretty hard, and you CANT cover everything at once. and no matter which decision you go with, another option not taken can potentially kill you (or have serious legal ramifications if caught)

but on another issues, traveling a minimal of 90 miles commute (but doing quite a few 200~250 plus) as of lately, doesnt eat a tire in weeks but days. i had "above "penny" tread" tread last week. it wasnt bald for weeks, just in two or three days. in the morning i had a center stripe (but below the "lincoln penny" test) on the way to work. leaving work it was bald in center but no cord (or any rubber tearing) . stop at gas station... had cord stripe. and that was within 4 miles from leaving work.

looking at the amount of delamination within those few miles, i knew it wasnt going to work. there was no way. i love/miss my kids, and plan on seeing them/being there for them for a long time. I pushed it home.

The walk home was just over 5 hours. (15.7) miles so about an 3 mph average. Glad I did bmx for years.

Can't say that/I wanst talking to myself a bit of the way. Excercize is good for the mind as well. Gets out the anger for the past year.

What was on top of my list?

BIKE SHOPS… all of em./you suck. There are no less than 3 .......THREE bike shops in waller/362. And on I-10 there were ANOTHER 3 shops ( wild west, hurst. Yamaha, and some new one)... all closed Sundays and mondays. Typically im off Sunday. But had to co ver for a coworker. don't blame the bike shops. Dealerships are required, by law, to be closed.

, I've run to the cord on rear tires plenty of times but I've never seen cord on a front. usually the front tire gets so misshapen that I can't ride on it long before it shows cord

It was his rear, not the front...

OP, that sucks that it took almost 5 hours to push your bike home, if I would have seen the thread earlier I would have driven out there to get you, no BS, it is kind of amazing that no one stopped to help you when they saw you pushing a bike down the road, or that even a cop didn't see you and ask what the you were doing...

how much more dangerous is it to ride the bike at 5 mph for 15 miles versus pushing it at 3 mph for 15 miles?
