Pants?

I always ride with jeans, but the older I get, the more "cautious" I seem to get as well.

I'd like to start getting gear to ride year round, Right now I have three helmets and those seem to do fine, I already have boots for street riding and track, altho I may get me some boots for cold weather riding, no problems there. And I already got a leather jacket for hot days and one for cold weatther, altho I'm sure I'll be getting a mesh jacket as well.

My issue is with pants, I was thinking, should I buy some of those jeans with protection, like the ones Icon sell? or maybe there's something better?

Let me hear your opinions/criticisms/random talk about riding pants.

In my opinion, those are ok for all day riding like to the forest etc. But for daily commute i would prob look into knee/shin guards which you can easily remove and store till you get back to your bike. I've also been interested in them, but my knee guards work so well, i havent looked any further. Good luck, let us know what you find or decide on.

I have read good reviews about the First Gear HT 2.0 overpants. I think I'm going to pick up a pair. I have Draggin' Jeans and they are great with kneepads and fairly warm due to the kevlar lining..not so good for summer but great for right now. They aren't so good with the rain though!

I've used the Fieldsheer jeans for several years, I've not crash tested them but they work well in the winter over some under armour longjohns.

I have a few pair of Kevlar jeans, and augment those with A* Reflex pads when driving in traffic.

What ever you do stay away from ICON. It's poooppooooooooo.

I've had the Joe Rockets and Fieldsheer pants and both seem of good quality. I'm not sure about crashing them as I never TOOK the Opp to test them. (knock on wood)

how do you clean the kevlar reinforced pants?
iirc kevlar vests require special care

Since I dont know much about the kevlar jeans, do they not have padding? Or is the fact that they're made of kevlar the whole safety point? I know you said "augment" but I'm curious if you mean augment the jeans or the pads on the jeans.
