Ever considered lojack...

without comp? Lojack has an extremely high recovery rate and I'm talking about bikes parked in locked garages (not apartments or apartment garages).

If it was between the 2, I'd take Theft coverage.

Lojack should only be considered as a supplement to Theft, not a replacement imo.

to me the key word is "recovery rate"

meaning you have to know it was stolen, for it to be recovered. by THAT time it may have been a full day/week or more.(depending on where you are) at that time the bike could have been chopped, or LOJACK has been removed (NOTE: i dont know, CAN lojack be removed if found on the parts/bike stolen??)

anyways what i am getting at ..use systems that alarm you when they are being hassled with at that moment.

- alarms ALARM you, by pagin, alerts, text, triggers events to monitoring biz and make noise in vicinity.

- lojack simply helps recover. it does not prevent.

I think the lojack early warning system does this.

Theft Coverage FTW
Just because your bike is recovered doesn't mean it hasn't been destroyed

My bike is too cheap for lojack imo. I do have theft coverage on it.

same here -

cost of lo-jack just doesn't make sense to me. Now if I had a $30k bike you better believe I would have alarm, lo-jack, etc.

Theft on a SS litre bike is pretty expensive. If you keep the bike for a while eventually the lojack will run you cheaper than continuing to pay for theft every year, so there is some sense to it. True, if you don't keep the bike long it's not worth it since lojack is specific to bike VIN and is not transferrable to another bike.

My next bike probably won't be in the SS insurance category anyways, but I was contemplating a 08 1000rr (when I learned they could be had for $6998+ttl) until I quoted insurance. Theft and/or full coverage ins. is insane on late model litre bikes. I don't see how some folks are willing to pay so much for insurance. Must be big ballers and not married, unlike me.
