Is there any idea of the general dates for this ride?

I would like to go on a longer ride, but I am a full time college student.

Leave with a new back tire and unless you're doing burnouts you'll have no trouble doing this trip without stopping for rubber.
The two I put up were just examples.. more good roads included to and from, as opposed to interstate both ways... I HATE interstate...

I have no prob with making it into a 6-7 day trip.. I have 28 days off to play..

Tentative dates are somewhere between Mar 3 and Mar 21.

Different routing for day one... 100 miles of 59 is enough freeway...

It is showing 11+ hours but I know I can make Coushatta from my house in the truck in about 4.5 so it will be less.

Day 5 has us stopping for the day in Logansport LA, but I don't see anywhere to stay. Center TX does. Shreveport LA does too.

Yeah, I am adjusting that to stay around Shreveport or Bossier City area.

I was worried about Ozark City in Ar but there are a couple good, cheap motels there.

I usually try and find smaller towns to stay at. Less hassle with the bikes, usually cheaper, cleaner rooms as well. Hot Springs and Eureka Springs shouldn't present any problems.

Playing with day 1.. adds a couple more miles, but found a road in East Louisiana wanted to check out, 346..

What say y'all? I would rather spend an extra hour on backroads versus freeway..

http://tinyurl.com/arkansas-day-1-rev2

I'll have my GPS along so we can always add/delete along the way

That looks like a good route. I took 59 up to Texarkana then over to Hot Springs. Mainly since I was by myself and with it being my first moto trip, I stayed near the freeway initially in case of a mishap.
From Hot Springs you should take AR 7 up to Jasper and also check out AR 123 from AR7/Lurton to Jasper and back (thats a full day of riding).

Some people have expressed interest in stretchering their bikes for the ride.

The logisitics of the trip are planned around actually riding the bikes.. (I know, I know, who wudda thunk it? )..

But...

If interested, you could drag, trailer or otherwise haul your perfectly good streetbike up to, say Hot Springs, then leave the cage and stretcher there, ride for 3 days on the main good roads, and split off at the end of the 4th day and roll home from there... whilst the rest of the hard heads continue on their merry way...

Right now I am looking at the week of March 14-20. I prefer to ride during the week when there is less traffic and Po Po; plus I am working with a couple other peoples offshore schedules, time off, spring break, etc.

So put that info in the pot and stir it around some...

To tie this all back into one post... here is the basic plan, subject to change, but more or less.

Right now I am looking at the week of March 14-20. I should be able to make a firm thread in the Events section by mid to late Jan. Once we decide, I am setting up my rooms, and riding rain or shine.

Riding the bikes, leaving from HAK parking lot; Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana roads.

Good times to be had.

Stopping at various overnight spots including Hot Springs and Eureka Springs.. site seeing along the way and trying to remember to actually take the camera outta the bag...

As of now, I have 5, maybe 6 committed (or needing to be committed ) to ride along. At least 2 or 3 others debating on towing, on the fence about the prospect of numb ...

Tentative planned routes... total 1639 miles from and back to HAK, pending changes...

http://tinyurl.com/arkansas-day-1-rev2

Over night in Hot Springs, approx 430 miles thereabouts

http://tinyurl.com/day2arkansas

Over night in Eureka Springs, 367 miles

http://tinyurl.com/day3arkansas

Over night in Ozark, 232 miles

http://tinyurl.com/arkansas-day-4

Over night in Shreveport, around 290 miles (need to edit the map)

http://tinyurl.com/arkansas-day-5

Around 320 miles back to HAK or thru the Forest.. again needs some editing.

I usually stick with the chains for the points. On my last road trip there were only 3 of us. At first we planned to get 2 rooms a night and split the cost 3 ways. Instead we all stayed in 1 room and it saved us a LOT of money. But that was an 11 day trip so the price per night was more of a factor. I slept on an air mattress and I'll bring it this time too whether I need it or not because I have back problems. We stayed 2 nights in Colorado Springs. It was convenient not to have to pack & unpack for a day. We just rode a big loop that day.

I see a Comfort Inn and a Best Western in Eureka Springs and a Days Inn in Ozark. Plenty of choices to be had in Hot Springs and Shreveport.

I stayed at BW in Hot Springs $75/nt (thrs/Fri) and Eureka Springs $120 for Saturday (has 2 locations). Both were clean and comfortable. Be sure to plan on seeing some of the town. Hot Springs has a pretty cool downtown for walking around and Eureka Springs is even better. Lots of artist galleries and such.

Jim, put me down as a maybe as I might be going to do a moto tour in Spain in April. Don't know yet.
