as for wisdom, try a trackday with RideSmart, great group of people and riders, you will learn so much about the proper way to ride and control bike and control your self you get tons of class time and 1 on 1 instruction.

Your jacket will need a full circumference zipper to attach the pants a be acceptable for track day use. As not all pants and jackets are compatible what brand jacket do you have and does it have the full zipper?

As far as boots I like both Sidi and Alpinestars, expect to pay between $250-$300.00.

For reading material; keith Codes Twist of the Wrist is good as is Nick Iensatch' Sport Riding Techniques among others.

I have a copy of Total Control , you're welcome to borrow it.

I'm also ready to go back to track days after almost 5 years hiatus.

Several trackday organizations rent leathers out, and Patrick at least used to, and probably still does. I know Ridesmart usually let people new to the track have the first rental free. I'd go that route first to be sure you'll enjoy the track before spending money on a suit. If you want one now even for street riding, a few frinds have crash tested the Fieldsheer Radar suit with good results, and they're on sale right now for $300.

Renting a suit is a good idea to see how you feel about the whole experience. A Twist of The Wrist is a good place to start with reading matl.
When you get ready to do a trackday I will be happy to answer any questions and do what I can to help you out.
Send me a PM anytime you have a question and if I don't know the answer I will make one up... er, I mean I will find someone who does.

Ridesmart will, through their supplier, give a free leather rental to a first timer. Do that, see what others are wearing and go from there. Hold off until you find out if you are fully addicted. If so be on the lookout for a slightly used one piece leather, there are always plenty out there.

Ha ha I was thinkin' the same thing

Still, renting lets a person get their feet wet while they are still in the denial stage.

It seems that if I go down on the track in a rental like Patrick offers, I'm out almost a 1000 bucks...so, why not get my own suit and deal with it instead of pretty much being forced into a 1000 dollar sale...if that makes sense. Thanks for the help though Patrick....I'll definitely keep you in mind if I can't locate some leathers and need to rent...it's a of a deal anyways.
I would recommend talking to Patrick about buying leathers too. That's what I did. He made me a better deal than the internet AND helped with sizing. Plus I knew that he would stand behind the sale and if there were problems he would make it right.

The best book by far to learn about racing is Kenny Roberts - Techniques of Motorcycle Roadracing.

Not only are Patrick's prices competitive with the internet and can he help with fit, but you can take them two doors down to Jesse and get them tailored so they are like custom leathers. As far as pricing goes, would you rather be sliding along the ground in the cheapest leathers you could find or the best leathers you could afford? That goes doubly with gloves and boots.

i dont think you could go wrong with any of those. I would go for the two piece if you plan on using it for the street also.
