I have been wanting to get a crew together and ride the dragon. I was wanting to rent an rv and load the bikes in a trailer and take turn driving up there. spend 3 days riding and chillin.

My plan is load the bikes on the trailer (my low boy will hold 5)

Deadhead up (14 hour drive) spend 3-4 days riding during the week, then back home.

Or, ride the bike up and take a week or so to and from.

Just to let everyone know I have been going to the Dragon every year since 2003 and the Dragon is not what it used to be. Now the LEO's are very bad on the Dragon.
The gentleman that took the video is a acquaintance of mine; Kilboy. Please note this video was taken in the winter when there were no LEO's and you could run the Dragon like in the good ole days.
If you go be aware of the speed and DO NOT CROSS THE YELLOW LINE!!! The Dragon will bite you...

Enjoy

I had planned going in the M coupe. Now that I don't have that ride anymore I plan on going in the new whip....errr that is when I get one lol.

Actually I might just stick to Crows Nest Pass in Canada or Trans Canada Hwy between Calgary and Vancouver!

Looks like he's ridden that road a time or two.
Would hate to make a mistake at speed on that road.

Those roads are less forgiving than most because there is so little runoff. If you do go wide you have, generally, one or more of three problems.
Trees, a rock wall or steel guardrail.
Having ridden the Dragon several times my advice is to ride it in a "spirited" but cautious way. There are cars, slow bikes, RVs, 18 wheelers and unexpected gravel around any given blind corner.
Not to mention the popo is everywhere because the place is so famous and draws large crowds all through the summer. Many, many squids in attendance and several wrecks everyday.
Other than that, it's awesome. (please stop mentioning the Cherohala or it will suck too)

I have my own dragon, only 450 miles from Houston, no cops, no traffic, hardly any winter to speak of. Gonna go this spring on a street bike, not an enduro. Yee ha!

And the video below is the not so nice part. Higher up the canyon it is MSRH track quality with 270 degree uturns. WOW! Best road I know within 1000 miles of Houston. Makes the three sisters feel like you were wearing Shallow Hal glasses.

Riding one handed with a camera on knobbies makes it a little dull, but on a sport bike...watch out.

Look up Iturbide, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on a map.
