This was his reply.....

Hello there,

The GSX-R 600 advertised on craigslist is still for sale. My asking price for the bike is $2700. I purchased the bike from a serious bike enthusiast in Baltimore, Maryland and shipped it to Kansas. Currently the bike has 9,533 miles, it has a clear title and transferable extended warranty good until March 2011. The bike is in great condition, it was never abused, crashed, dropped, it was always garaged and the regular maintenance was done in time. I'm selling the bike because I don't have time to ride it due to my job (i work as a casino dealer on a cruise ship). Regarding the payment, I will use only eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection program. Let me know if you have any other questions regarding the bike or about how eBay VPP works.

Here is a link with the pics of the bike: http://s635.photobucket.com/albums/u...view=slideshow

Thank you!
Patrick

momma always said...if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

and the fact that he isn't wanting to deal locally...

and it was an 06 or 07 GSXR 600, right? even with a salvage title, his price is considerably low, let alone if it was a clean title.

So offer to drive to Kansas and pick the pike up. That way you would be able to meet the seller, see the bike and check out the paper work. For the price he is asking you would still save money.

Of course if it's a scam he:
A) Will never agree to this or;
B) Say sure drive up here and the address will be a vacant lot

Second Email he sent

I have to tell you that I'm currently at work. As I already told you, I work as a dealer on a cruise ship and I left the bike in Wichita, KS at the shipping company, it's already crated and waiting to be shipped anywhere. You will receive all the documents of the bike (owner's manuals, keys, clear title, bill of sale) in order to register it under your name. If you are interested, this is how eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection program works:

1. You send me your full name, complete address (I need for shipping) and your phone number.
2. I open a transaction with eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection.
3. eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection will contact you with an invoice regarding our transaction.
4 You will send the payment to eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection and they will notify me to ship the bike to your location.
5. After you will inspect the bike and decide to keep it, eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection will forward me the funds and the deal is done.

Basically, eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection will secure the funds until you will receive and inspect the bike. You will have 5 days inspection period. If the bike is not like described, you will have to ship it back on my expense and they will give you a full refund. This way, you will be able to inspect the bike before committing to buy it and I know that you have the money and you aren't just fooling around. I will wait your reply.

Thank you!
Patrick

Youy must have seen the several CL ads with nearly the exact same wording that I have posted over the last few weeks. I used to enjoy "messing" with the folks, but they all end the same.

As soon as you say that no money will exchange hands until I physically see the bike/auto, the emails suddenly end. Hmmmm... Also, ask for a phone number, you will never get one.

Make no mistake, this is a scam. Another way to know is that they never allow you to reply back to the CL anonymizer email, they always have their own email in the text body, and typically have a number after their name (they also remove the prior text in each new email). After some investigation I found that the number in their email addy reflects different areas of the US that they are doing the same scam. The name in the email addy will be the same, with the same number used in Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, and OKC, but they will use the same ad with another number on the East coast, and the same ad with a 3rd number on the West coast. I guess we all must figure ways to keep our lies / scams straight....

I have not seen the ad as it was flagged, but I suspect those that saw the ad will find these details to be accurate.
