Exp. dirt racers...how often would I be looking into top ends if I participated in each 2 day event? every 3 events? mid year? I don't know what the life expectancy of a top end is when it's beat on all the time?

2700 obo for the track bike, I'll be making a thread in the coming days. remember..cash talks, BS walks.
Your KX250 will be just fine to race with especially if your just starting to race. I'd say start off in the 250 begginner class and if you spanking everyone then cool. They will probably make you move up to novice the next season. Novice classes tend to have alot of crashes haha but that's besides the point.

When i really started racing i had a cr125 2-stroke. I rode that for 2 years and raced it every weekend for a year of that and the top end never went out on me. But i was also specific about oil changes with synthetic and other maintenance. In the 4 years i had that bike, i only changed the top end once and i rode the dog out of that bike. I also only had the clutch go out on me once in that time period. Not only that, a 2 stroke top end is a piece of cake to change out by yourself.

You will love racing MX. It's hella cheaper than track days/ racing and it's VERY addicting. I used to ride at the track twice during the week and race every weekend and couldn't get enough of it.

Dirt is fun. You might look at hair scrambles or enduros. Enduros are a blast little bit of everything.

Good. You'll find some nuts to swing from, on dirt, as well, I am sure.

Seriously though..GL...I broke many bones and teeth, on MX tracks, as a teenager.

I say go for it and have fun! You won't really know your true opinions on it until you try it anyways. I'd be more concerned with the higher impacts of some of the crashes on a mx track.

I think I am going to step down to a used trail bike and stick to the woods in the future myself.

I think most of the races are trails as opposed to MX. There may be a MX track incorporated into the "lap", but I think it is minimal. Know this, DBuck won't be clearing any triples...maybe a double or two, but no triples.

and when you get that trail bike, hit me up...we visit the SHNF frequently!

Will do! My parents live a few hundred yards from the East side trails.

Hmmm tough decision! I'm thinking of quiting the streets and ride lots and track only.
But I love killing the streets it's free

i would swap out top ends depending on your riding. when i was serious with it i rode 3 to 4 times a week and raced on the weekend and i replaced a top end once a month. changing oil often is good but this is a 2 stroke invest in good two cycle oil cause thats what really matters. top end swaps are a piece of cake by the way i was doing em alone at 11 years old.

nothing but amsoil through this gas tank...@ $12/bottle it's well worth it. I haven't done a top end on this thing yet and I have at least 30 hours on it since I bought it....almost time to do it before I go messing up the bottom end.

even the break in on a new top end is quick and easy..

and +1 to a quality oil.. I always used amsoil full synthetic or motul full synthetic.

Mx riders obtain the " I don't give a , pin it to win it" state of mind...that can easily be turned into streetbike freestyle
