you gain more skill on a slower bike. fyi you don't have a well sorted 650. A prepped SV650 is the way to go.

I think the F4 and F4i were a huge disappointment for Honda as far as a "race" bike goes. Can't go wrong with a GSXR or R6. The newer ZX6R is a very nice track bike. SV650 is an awsome starter track bike, especially the first generation with a rebuilt suspension. You really won't lose money on a first gen SV650 even if you sell it a season later...provided you don't chalkline the bike.

i say go with a sv650 they cheap and so is the tires. but if you want a 600 get a gixxer zx6r r6 or honda 600rr but leave the f4i alone. its not a bad bike but not for track especially since your hooked.

So Ely2000, please don't take it the wrong way:

*You have 4-8 months of rifing under your belt; have done 1 TD. Why do you want a track bike?

*Disregarding that fact, like Martin said you will learn more on a slower bike, it will notice in the future too.

My suggestion is learn how to ride your 650 properly, you will be amazed of what the bike is capable of. If you insist on getting a track bike, get a slower bike it will pay in the end when you are passing people on 1ks.

one of the smoothest riders was on a stripped down kawi 650 and was movin pass peeps left and right ,but I dont blame you if you want a track bike so you wont tear up you 650.

Maybe he does not want to risk crashing his street bike?

I started on an 05 R6. Now I ride an 07 750. Never rode an SV so I wont knock it, plenty of peeps haul on them.

Either way, you'll learn on any of them.

I have a nicely modded 06 CBR600RR, clean title, track only in my garage for sale. Bout 5k.
