5 days would be the minimum for going out there.

Day 1 Houston to Del Rio, stayed at Laughlin Air Force Base, there are many hotels in Del Rio.

Day 2 Del Rio to Big Bend, camped in the Chisos Mountains where that picture is from, very nice camps sites water toilets ect.

Day 3 River Road 170 West, to Presidio then north up to Fort Davis "Texas mile high city"

Day 4 Fort Davis to San Antonio via I-10 E

Day 5 Houston

Round trip its about 1000 miles I think? All roads are paved, I'll make a picture thread from the trip soon. Hope this helps you can pm me for any details.

I had a friend who had a KLR for a few years... he hated it. He ended up getting a 650r.

I thought they looked pretty fun, but never ridden.
