Point is, it's all about seat time and respect, when the time comes to move up.
I felt I had enough seat time, and respect, so I got me a 10R, couldn't be happier

look there are gonna be plenty of opinions on here. Get the bike you want. Just dont be stupid and use your head. As stated before when you get a lot of power underneath you you have to watch those turns and yes a 600 can be safer. But the way I see it if you have a good head on your shoulders and you dont let your ego get the best of you then youll be fine.

Well there are of course exceptions to the rule. I know you can handle yourself. But you didn't get that for a first bike either.

I just feel "somone told me I know how to handle Houston traffic at night" is an inadequate reason for purchasing a 1000. But what do I know? Im just a puzzy on a 600.

Get a 600. Just out of the MSF, there's no reason to have probably the strongest 1000cc motor between your legs...

My brothers 03 600rr would did 168mph indicated... No idea what that was Gps wise. Point we are all making, 600s are plenty fast.

But somehow I still ended up on a brand new liter after my brief stint on a 250r... The 250r not being my first bike to ride, but being the first bike I personally owned. But if I could have gotten a brand new 07+ 600rr for $8,400 I may have done it, well if they had come with a slipper clutch and were not heavier than the 1000rr...

just an opinion.
I agree a liter is a bit nuts for me, but that does not mean I need to abuse it. Self control is a wonderful thing.

I would say your expectations are just a bit over the top.

I LOVE my 10, however I didn't get it until after taking the MSF course, doing several trackdays, a few trips to the dragstrip, and learning how to ride on a 600. If you are happy with a 600 I would get experience with that. When I first got my 10 it felt like a rocket compared to those ...now I can't get enough of it! But whatever you get wear your gear and respect it. And keep in mind you have control over yourself but not other traffic.

Sometimes I think I have more control over other traffic than I do myself

I know what you mean! That's part of the reason I don't ride it on the street much.
