"What happened?"

Try 4 guys going off the road on the same corner. There is nothing bad to be said about anyone, but if anything I think we had a few too many guys running too quick on turns they didnt' know. "I" personally suspect after having much time to think about it the incident it was a prime example of "Object Fixation". People were running quick and tight and some started running wide on a particular corner. Some made it, some didn't (as in 4 in a row went off). I think people were watching the bike in front of them instead of looking at their own line into the corner. Thats my personal opinion although I'll let the guys who went off elobarate further if they want, if not no biggy.

Main thing is everyone is ok. Oh, for those who rode on, hope your ride was safe and enjoyable.

To those who stayed to help with Helios and his bike, thanks (TxLurch, RJ (Ares?), VFRR'06 & Brian {blue SV650: I can't remember your MH handle Brian, sorry]). We took Helios to the ER clinic in Brenham and got him checked out. Concussion and broken collar bone.

(Helios: hope you don't mind me posting that, but figured people on the ride would want to know you're alright. mend quick and lets get riding again!)

Everyone went a little to wide on the turn from the begining. This started the domino effect. The guy in front of me went way wide. I went a little less wide but still didn't make the turn, the guy behind me decided to join me then the guy behind him said why not, everyone's doing it. My bike did some sliding on the grass and just cracked my front fairing, lost my left mirror and I was ok. (thank goodness for good gear and frame sliders, I still rode the rest of the ride) The guy in front of me made it ok, I think he just wanted a little off road action. The guy behind me, I am still not sure what happened to him, he ended up going to the hospital via car. If anyone knows what happened to him please inform me. The last guy to join the party made it just fine also, just some grass from his off road excursion and a missing bolt.

All the fairings are off my bike and I just decided to repaint them all, didn't want to have to do it this early, but might as well buy a gun and learn. My first time down, but I am thankful none of us was hurt seriously. All of our bikes were just fine, just cosmetic damage.

Not as dramatic as you probably wanted it, but I am thankful it went that way. I know where I made the mistake, I saw the guy go off and then I paid attention to much to the outside white line then ended up going right there.

Just got home, after dropping Helios off. Fractured (cracked) collarbone, mild concussion, and he WILL be sore tomorrow. Thanks everyone that stayed behind and helped out. I have his bike here and will be taking it back tomorrow. Busted headlight, front fender, one mirror and foot controls are a little tweaked.

Perfect example of following a little too close and watching the guy in front of you instead of the road. Ares did an excellent job of NOT following the rest into the ditch.

Was a GREAT ride up to that point!

Thanks guys, i'm good. Target fixation is today's word. Long sweeps :-). I had started out very alert watching my line. After 4 hrs riding, the repeatativeness sets in. Couple of guys went wide, i went wide. Cracked collar bone and minor concussion. Just looked me over and sent me home with a cheap arm sling. Huge thanks to everyone. Jim, Hugo, Brian, Ares, Chris... I'm at home, watching and eating popcorn with a beer. I hear the bike has a cracked headlight.

Glad you are ok Helios. My neck and back are pretty sore. I think I will be taking a few ibuprofen for the next couple of days.
