11/29/09 Forest Ride

I have a small group going out there, thought I'd invite anyone else who wanted to come. The pace will NOT be fast. If you want an idea of pace, PM me.

If you do not know 3090, that is fine, at least half of the riders coming with me have never been on 3090.

We will be stopping for food at Yankees.

Treating 149/3090 like a track on Sunday is just not my thing. I've seen some dopey riders out there, and even had people drift into my lane.

If you wanna join, post here, drop a pm, or w/e.

Time:
Morning. I live in Huntsville, will leave my place around 8:30. You can either meet me in Huntsville, or meet at the Texaco in Montgomery on 149.
I'd like to have people showin up around 9 @ the Texaco, KSU at 9:30.

Pace:
Already stated a general pace, if you want to know more pm me.

Rules for ride:
http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=45767

There will be several first timers.. if you got an ego or want to show off, go wit someone else or alone.

Gear: Wear all you got. It'll be cold anyways. I will treat you like an idiot if you gear like one.

Here is the route, courtesy of CaligoneTx:

Yeah, I see that! Wow.

I like to do my rides early enough to avoid traffic and even other bikers. I will do some mid-week rides during xmas break too.

I just went out today to 149 with one of my noob friends, thought about inviting some other people, but it is a good thing I didn't because he was REALLY green.

Normally I have classes, but next time I am free during the week, I'll set up a ride on a weekday around 11 or so.

At this time, I am not planning any stops for food.

I have never been to Yankees, so maybe this would be a good time to go? In the past, I have just ridden 149 to 3090... and taken both parts back and forth and then went home.

With a larger group, stopping and turning around is a bit harder and it may make more sense to go through 3090, stop at yankees, and then ride back home.

I just hate to ride all the way out to 3090, and not ride it a few times.

Btw, there will be stops at gas stations. Texaco is the first, and then a gas station in Anderson (I am pretty sure it is a shell... but could be wrong)

I know plenty of backroads around the area too if you're looking for a different way up there and back.

We can even see the deer and gorilla farms if we take the alternative back to Texaco.

AJ... GL getting it done; I dont know Paul's schedule but there will be other rides. I'd recommend fixing the other stuff first too; there are cops in that area and they get swamped w calls from residence the moment we start riding through there.

I got called in today by a resident actually. No tix for me tho!

Not sure who this is aimed at or what "there" is... but I will assume me, and assume "there" is 3090.

I love the stretch of 149 between the texaco and 1790, so I don't wanna take that away. Other than that, 149 gets fairly boring after 1790 IMO.

Even wit that, I could really care less. I am just looking to go ride and have fun. Just whatever we decide to do.. if it is any different than taking 149 to 3090, if you could give me a link to google maps wit the directions, would be helpful.

I imagine there will be at least 2 groups, unless you are all looking to tone down your usual speeds. Like I said, I got a few pretty new riders, and some completely new to 3090 that I want to encourage to get out and ride more.
