It depends. Parts are going to be more readily available for the kaw, but your neighbor has one his neighbor has one and the lady across the street has one. Also do not forget one is ten years older than the other, so you can't expect the same level of performance. That being said from the pics the 595 looks really well kept up and i will say there is nothing like a triple at full song. Also comes with single sided swing arm etc etc. Personally if I was you, I'd take the triumph. Not just because I like triumph, but because everyone and their mother has a japanese bike. Who really wants a UJM? Sure they are great bikes, but I think if you go with the kaw you'll be kickin yourself in the . Plus not to mention you posted the triumph pics first and it seems to be where you are leading to. As for reliability, a friend of mine rode the out of his for years and never had an issue. Of course he stayed on top of maintenance. Really how were the bikes taken care of?

Depends on what type of riding you plan on doing. Figure that out first and the choice will be easy.

Especially if you want to daily drive that mug.

But that Triumph probably was sooo far ahead Tech wise for its time.

Wait for others to chime in. I am by no means an expert and have the right choice Just stating my opinion and what I would do in your situation.

Buy the Daytona. If you don't like it, there will be about 47 ZX6's for sale. Good luck finding another T595 that looks like that.

No, I'm not bias. I have a bike too.

Nice looking T595! How many miles? Triumph triples are pretty stout but like anything else it all comes down to maintenance. Mechanically they will not sound as smooth as a Japanese bike. But when you open them up there is nothing that sounds as sweet as a triple at full clip!!!

The early 595's had fuel injection mapping issues, they're next to impossible to make run right everywhere.
I'd go with the ZX6.

As far as mileage goes it depends. Your T595 was the first of the Daytonas t0 go to digital fuel injection. My 955i gets between 38-45 depending upon how fast I push her. My S3 on the other hand gets a bit less but then it has been changed over from mikunis to keihn fcr and pulls like a freight train. Also the S3 is 855cc.

Patrick do you mean like flat spots/ misses in the power curve? low/mid/top I think I read something on this being in the 97 models and fixed in the 98's? I could be wrong. Would you mind checking the bike out for me?
On / off throttle and partial cruise settings.

Yep, bring it by and I'll do a visual inspection and test drive, no charge.

the triumphs so nice id buy it on that alone. whats a new motor or used one go for? id say it would be worth it even if the motor was to develop an issue. but i doubt it with that kind of service history. just buy the triumph, lol. i mean man its hot
