People on cell phones scare me. , they scare me while I'm in my 6000 lb. truck. They do not pay enough attention to the road, and are just as unpredictable as children running into the street.

Over riding my skill level is another fear for me. I'm kind of torn because this fear keeps me from pushing myself or my bike too far. I want to improve my skills, but I realize doing it on the street without training is not a wise decision.

Anyway, I concur. I've had this happen too many times to me, sometimes with narrow escape and sometimes not. This should have been a poll question.
Easy fix!
Do not ride in the center of the lane on top of that fat black line that's coated with oil anyway...
Act like your group riding and stagger to the left or right- your preference, mine is to the left so I can see more.
If your following too close you kinda deserve to run over whatever your pace machine just ran over, just better hope they don't kick it up on you.

I am not afraid of this but it would be hard to know there was nothing I could do to stop it. I guess it is why I am so aggressive toward cages when I ride with others.

nails, screws, any thing that could potentially put a hole in the tire.
oh yeah, and when some cager decides to make a last second exit crossing two or three lanes in the highway, that's not fun!

some idiot is going to run me over or ram me into the wall, and he/she is going to tell the cops (if they even stop) that they didn't see me.

Hopefully the cop will point out that I am wearing a flourescent yellow & reflective ANSI High-Viz vest.

Twice I have been at a stop light and heard "SCCCCCRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEACH"

Someone didn't notice me until the last second.

The second time, it actually caused an accident. The person coming directly behind me slammed their brakes, but the person behind them didn't in time and rear-ended them.

Whenever I am at lights now, I constantly look in my mirrors and when cars are coming up, I flash my brake lights constantly til they stop. Anytime I slow down or use my brakes with cars behind me, I flash em.
