Hello and *waves*

My nickname is Fenrous, or Lebowski depending on how long my hair is and when you originally met me. I am new to this site and was referred by a friend to sign up with "the Houston Motorcycle" group.

In truth, I have ridden dirt bikes and friends motorcycles off and on since my early twenties. But decided that being in my twenties and a Paramedic at the time, I would stick to cars and secretly dream of one day riding that cruiser down the street.

A Couple of years ago, I settled on Jeeping and lifting Wranglers, long arm modifications, etc, and riding with the doors off and the top down. I figured it was safer than a motorcycle with it having 4 wheels and enjoyed the technical aspects of wrenching on it as well as the trips I took in it.

I know a few people here like Challen and Xris24, so it makes me feel a little satisfied that people I casually know that ride are actively posting on the forums.

Little bit more about me is that I am currently riding a 1987 Honda VFR700F2, which has had a little work done on it to keep it running. Her name is Koi. I have been riding her around the subdivision now for about 5 months now. I actually thought I knew a lot about motorcycles and was able, albeit with lots of help from my buddy Xris24 getting her back to a running state. I am currently working on getting legal with my license (Hopefully this weekend, since last weekend resulted in an unexpected trip for my wife, Challen that should have given me away to you for sure now). I already have insurance and some gear, but always on the look out for good advice, good friends, and just someone to talk to about something I enjoy.

A little word about why the bike's name Koi. As everyone probably is aware, it is a type of fish that is the symbol of love and friendship. Some also feel that they bring prosperity and peace to their master. It also is a fish that originated in Japan, just like my bike. I also happen to be a Pisces, so the fish are my zodiac symbol. Not to mention that if anyone has ever had Koi, they know that they can be temperamental fish, just like Koi.

My hope is to be swimming soon in the pond of hopefully some new friends.

Only other thing really to say is that I like the Honda Fury, Honda CBR line, and the Hammer motorcycles; however, getting a new bike at this point isn't in my plans.

no, I have pictures of it built out riding down and around MOAB, UTAH in it; however, it was totaled in an on the road accident in Feb 2006. I still have the Jeep Fever; however, my garage is kind of full with my wife's Ninja 500EX, my VFR, and her Ford Escape. She keeps telling that if I am willing to trade in my Dodge Charger, I can get another Jeep. But, between the two of us we have five kids and even in my Charger; we still cant fit everyone at the same time, so unless one falls out of the heavens and lands in my driveway, probably wont be getting another Jeep until the kids are off to college.

BTW, 2 of them are in High School, 2 in Middle school (destined for High School next year), and 1 is in Elementary School.

To be honest, I would love to get a junkyard one and clean it from the frame up as a hobby. While Koi didn't come to me that way, she was running albeit barely, it has been rewarding tearing her apart cleaning her up and putting her back together. Especially now, since I walk out to the garage and she fires up every time now, without being temperamental even on colder days like today.

And thank you all for such a warm welcome.

w0000000000000000000t!

you made it! so glad you came bro. so many people i have met through this site, its nice to bring someone from the outside in.

yes, yall. i totally vouch for fenrous, awesome stand up guy, and a great member to have on the site! im so stoked.

man, that bike is so special. im hoping you upgrade someday and let me buy it off you. it would bring back so many memories.

i remember my 1st bike, the 86 vfr...i maybe had 100 miles of seat time. i remember going 70 for the first time. all tucked in like a motogp racer. (dont laugh lol) ...okay nevermind. you can laugh...i am. LOL.

but anyways. i always remember that moment. it was the moment i felt as though i went from "a guy with a bike" to someone who going to spend the rest of their life on and around motorcycles.

that bike was totalled about 5 years ago (not by me) and i STILL have peices of it i keep as a momento.

Quick note - I got to say that Awesome Cycles lives up to their name. I have had 4 really good instructors there, made learning a breeze and on Nov 23, 2009 I went down to the DMV and Demanded my M. Felt pretty good to be honest.

So now that I am legal, the weather decides to do this number. Well looks like I will just have to keep getting the bike tuned and riding during the sun spots.
