There are cattle who will stray from the George Ranch area at times.

Went through the area one Sunday earlier this year and came across a dead cow lying on the side of the road, right by the entrance to George Ranch. Looked like it was freshly hit too. The vehicle that hit it was nowhere to be found, so it was a hit-and-run. Doubled back at the end of the route and the deputy patrol was already there calling it in.

Just kind of strange seeing this massive animal lying on the side of the road in an open area.

It is more common then you might think. Good reason to sweep a road before you try to set your lap records.

Ha ha, I remember that.

Turkey vultures and deer are the worse, since they are quick and tend to dart out from the side of the road unexpectantly. I've known some riders on group rides who have been beaned by a low-flying buzzard.

At least with a cow you should have some reaction time for avoidance.

Not if you come upon it just over a hill... which is where I witnessed a car get wasted by a cow.
