Benifits of track

Ok I read all the time go to track go to track.. My question is simple how will track make me feel more comfy with curves?

I have no fear on straight roads.. but man curves just are not my thing.. never have been.

So thoughts?

You'll learn how to turn the bike better, plus how far you can actually lean it

Or you can find a buddy to go out on back roads and get some pointers. Just find someone that is willing to go slow and build from the basics..

MSF?

track will make you all around better rider, period. you'll learn about body position, braking, smooth on the throttle, and countless other things i'm forgetting at the moment. and yes, it will also make it better and more comfortable with curves and cornering. do it!

As people will touch on why i'll give u a real life occurrence...

When i wrecked back in April it was in a turn that i was taking only at about 70mph (sign said 45) 3 other riders were coming at me and one broke into my lane and scared me so i reacted. Long story short i up-righting the bike and wound up flipping the bike into a ditch after hitting the grass line.

After doing a track day i realized what i could have done with my throttle to drop tighter or go wider in the curve and still maintain my turn. The biggest thing i learned my first track day was throttle control well in a turn and how different responses on the throttle will make the bike do different things. (IE. if your going wide drop off the throttle to bring it back in, if your 2 tight speed up a little to move back out....) i did not know or realize this until after that day.

Do a track day..if you dont like it you dont have to do it again but they will really help you learn how to ride your bike like it should be ridden.

plus you get over confident if you're not careful which is just as bad as being a lousy rider

I was actually going to post something like this.
But One of the things that the track has taught me. Is to react and be able to handle what is given in front of you.

One of my examples. While riding during one of my sessions there was a guy on a bigger bike than mine passed me in one of the straits at a track in louisiana. I was right behind him as we got to the next turn which was a 100+ sweeper he jammed on his brakes and went wide. I had to react and brake hard avoid hitting him and take a line i didn't want to take(cuz it wasn't the fastest line.) This was something that you learn in a controlled environment will help you when un expected things happen on the street.

But i think the track helps you learn to react instead of freezing up when something un expected comes your way.

Do Ridesmart. They really go out of the way to show you some good stuff you can apply on the street. They are the best for beginners in my opinion. A lot of those guys are pretty patient and seem actually eager to help you become a better rider. LSTD kicks too but for you, try Ridesmart 1st.

One thing I think I most benefited from was my heightened awareness while on the bike. Its like your mind gets conditioned to think faster on the bike. Its weird, cat really explain it. I have had "oh " moments after riding the track a lot that I did not over react, just kept my cool and just reacted.
