Actually if you ride the street just like the track (body position wise not speed and dragging knee) it's actually safer because you don't have to lean the bike over as much to turn it. By hangin off the bike your bike will actually stay more upright which keeps the fat part of the tire on the road which will also give you more traction. If you are just sitting on the seat everywhere and not using your legs to push on the pegs, and your body weight to turn the bike you might as well be riding a cruiser. And you will be more likely to crash

Proper technique should always be used not just on the track. See my last post

By the way on our way back from Sara and Flips Meet and Greet we were taking the Beltway 8 and 45 interchange and this dude passes me and decides to slow down through the turn and had his line look like it came off a seismograph. Luckily he decided to slow down the rest of the way home.

When I first got on a bike I didn't feel comfortable relaxing my legs away from the tank. I gripped the tank with my thighs. So, to me it was much easier to lean my upper body first. Is it better to start pushing the knee out in turns when you don't have the upper body down or feet position?

btw the drag knee thing was a joke....I don't know many people who can do it on the streets, so I doubt a new rider could unless his whole bike was dragging the ground with him.
Nobody feels comfortable at first that's why u gotta learn proper technique. Unfortunatly MSf doesn't teach proper riding technique. They just teach the basics
