I'm so disgusted with myself...

So, I am riding with a small group today and we were hitting it pretty hard. I was listening to my brand new 7th gen apple ipod when (it was in my chest pocket while my leather vest was flapping in the wind) I felt a thump on my left foot and the music stopped. My ipod is now somewhere on 59 being flattened as we speak. The thing that makes it so painful is that it was my very first ipod and I decided to get the biggest one they had the 160gb classic. Oh, and I just bought it on the 11th and my wife hasnt found out, yet. I feel so defeated...

oh , sorry about that.

If you're going to listen to music while you ride, get those ipod nano ones, they use flash memory (solid state storage) which doesn't involve in any moving part, thus impervious to vibration when you ride. The 160Gb uses a laptop hard drive (moving parts) and it'll break fast if you ride with it too often. Plus the nanos are super tiny...

that sucks. There's a word for that split second that you feel the thump on your foot, the music stops then your mind figues out what happened. LOL... But I cant think of it right now.

Just get yourself a cheap 4Gig. Should be plenty of music to listen to for at least a couple of weeks and it wont matter if you lose it or it breaks.

i have a nano with an arm band that i use over the jacket which makes it very accessible while riding if i dare its waterproof too. i always have it on shuffle so the only thing i have to do is pause it if i have to but recently I've just been keeping it in my pocket and running the wires up my jacket to my helmet. i wish i could strap it to my leg iron eagle style but my arm band only goes so big

Why the 160 gig? Did you plan to listen to 10000 hours of music non stop before you had access to a computer? Other iPods are cheaper and way more features. You should not need more than 4 to 8 gigs

This is why I don't bring mine on the road. Also, some people argue that it's safer without it (all focus is on the road/driving)

I was wondering how the previous owner of my new iPod lost it...

Good stuff, but don't really like your taste in music.

That does suck, dude.

Back in '05, I had just bought my '04 GSXR1000 and was riding down 36 towards LJ to see my buddies. I took a detour off of 36 onto a closed course ; ) and opened the GSXR up. Got well into the triple digit speeds...on the closed course...when I looked to the left and my shadow had a new flappy spot on my back. The small pouch on my jansport backpack got tugged open from the negative pressue. My hat, phone, phone charger, wallet, smokes and zippo all came pouring out. I doubled back on the shoulder going about 15mph for 2 miles. Found everything but the hat.
Sucked.
