It's for breathing...or twizzlers tongue8 Actually, you can breath right through the material...I think the hole is really for straws, cigarrettes or just a hole for holes sake lol

I have a pretty big head and I can say that there is no pressure buildup when wearing it, helmet on or off. I considered getting a neck cover but its not my neck that gets cold...its my head! Maybe it's just my helmet - I don't know - but theres a lot of wind action inside and wow I never fully appreciated how cold it can get while riding a bike lol. Never again will I ride without a head sock if I am taking a trip in cold/dry air.

Just came back from a cold ride (55 degrees/dry air) tonight from Texas City to Pappas BBQ @ Gulfgate (610/45 in South Houston - 25mi~). I wore a tshirt, race boots, riding jeans, perforated leather jacket, the balaclava and of course, a helmet with my eyeglasses. Initially, my glasses fogged up but they didnt after a while with all vents closed...I guess the lenses matched the temperature outside. Anyway, the balaclava did a great job of keeping my head wind and cold-free No issues with it bulking up or getting tight inside the helmet. The only issue I did have was I could not turn my head as much when changing lanes as my range was limited by the extra fabric around my neck but that will take some getting used to.

All around, very pleased with the product and would highly recommend before it gets cold

Neck gaitor.
Its like a sleeve for your neck. I have one and love it. Whats nice is that you can pull it up around your nose, mouth and ears but not all the way over your head and around your eyes.
