I have a friend that used to do those. He gave it up after seeing one too many near death accidents.

Funeral processions are the most dangerous thing for a motor cop. Ask one and he will tell you.

For that matter, they are pretty dangerous period.

Why in the eff don't motor cops wear gear? They do in Europe.

Hope he heals up quick and 100%.

I see close calls all the time on Patriot Guard missions. There is always some impatient a-hole who cannot respect the funeral procession, and tries to do everything he/she can to sneak through or around.

Once we were on 45N, and there was this b*tch who saw a gap in our line. Further up the line, our procession was merging into the leftmost lane, which she probably noticed, and found herself getting "trapped" in her lane. So rather than slow down, and wait for the rest of us to pass her up, she decided to cut us off, and switch lanes to the other side. She was on the lane to our left, and as soon as she saw the opening, she cut straight across! To our right lane, there was a motocop speeding ahead to the front. I was expecting the worse, but he either accelerated to avoid her (which it seems what happened), was going fast enough, or they're both lucky she didn't make her move 2 seconds earlier, because the cop just barely got ahead of her as she crossed into his lane. Without hesitation, she went straight for the next exit, and went about her way. I was hoping a motocop would go after her, but the only one I saw behind me was probably too far to see what happened.

The last two times I've seen funeral processions on the freeway, the police escort was not running lights. With all the vehicles nowadays that have DRLs its really hard to pick out a funeral procession from just normal traffic. Generally funeral processions are doing something out of the ordinary (you know..........like trying to stay 20 cars in a line) so it actually doesn't suprise me that this happens as frequently as it does. Sucks either way.
