Semi trucks on Deals Gap Pics

This is an oldie and maybe a repost but still a good page.

Cant believe they STILL allow these things on that road.

Yeah its unbeleivable. I watched a few of the youtube vids and couldnt beleive it. The one i watched showed the truck gouging grooves in the road with its rear bumper.

This is no joke. I for one can personally tell you this sight is all too common at the Gap.

Truckers go through there all the time. Most of them, in my personal experience, were log trucks.

A lot of the turns on the dragon are completely blind......so you're rolling through there and have no idea if there is a truck around that corner, parked in the middle of the road or not.

Usually......if you're lucky.....a group of harley riders will keep their distance and not pass the truck....giving you a fair warning before it's too late.

I never had a serious problem with a trucker.....though I've heard a million stories. My last time through the Dragon before I moved back to Houston I was following a 18-wheeler in my truck. I followed this guy and watched him cross ALL OVER THE YELLOW LINES. scared me stupid......and kind of made me glad I was leaving for the last time.

Bonus Dragon's Tail pics of a guy running wide and smashing a SUV. Is it me or is his ankle flopping all over the place?

If they can't stay in their lane they should be ticketed and cited for wreck less driving, and/or passing when their is a double yellow.

If the truckers got 5 tickets every time they took the Hwy they would stop taking it or loose their commercial licenses.

Its not illegal to drive a big tuck across deals gap,he did a great job driving threw it so whats the problem? he did not hurt anyone and sure with a 53 foot trailer, you bound to cross the other lane ive drove in much tighter curves than deals gap, just think without trucks you would not be riding your bike in the same place!!!thumbs up swift!!!

man lookin at those pics that looks like a horrible road for motorcycling. i mean the turns look kinda fun but it looks like all the corners are blind, and you never know what could be coming.

That's why you don't ride public roads like the track. "Point and shoot", i.e. slow in, fast out.. you get on the gas when you can see the end of the corner.

well yea i know that, but it just looks like you cant see very far at all. i would just feel claustrophobic.

I like riding back home...

Would it be the same if a motorcylist crosses his or her lane in a corner? Pretty much apples to apples...

Wow that is very scary, motorcycle or vehicle.

I give them mad props for driving it but the public is at too much a risk in situations like that.

I havent ridden the Gap but Im sure I wouldnt be doing any corners I couldnt do a full brake to a stop in.
