No I wouldn't unless I did the welding or a guy I know that knows how to weld. The place or time doesnt really matter to me, if you got skill and the right welding tools I wouldnt care if they did it in a crack house lol But No not just some HACK off the streets but I do know many people that are crazy good and work out of they're run down backyard

Ok, figured I would come in here and redeem myself at least...The entire neck is not being cut, only a small section of it...

I am only rebuilding this bike, nothing else...and I really don't care what I put on the net, cuz none of you know who I am...

There are two sets of wheels, a silver front and back and a yellow front and back...

As you can see, the old plastics are blue, not red...

Laugh at the porch, I could care less, it may not be neat, but I know where everything is at...

Any more questions for me? I will be back in a lil bit...

Yeah.. why are ya giving the poor guy such a hard time?.. He knows where everything on the porch is.

And for you guys who keep going on about needing to "heat-treat" the welds, apparently he's got that under wraps!..

Notice: Not 1, but 2 propane grills on that porch. That's where he's gonna heat treat it.

why not just buy a new frame. its safer to me than cutting the neck and re-welding it.

All I am doing is rebuilding a bike for my Father-in-law, basically putting an engine into a new frame...

Laugh it up...Have you ever heard of organized chaos? Just because everything isn't neatly put in different places doesn't mean that I don't know exactly where everything is...I like to set things in one spot and not move them again or else I may forget where I moved it to, yes, I'm retarded like that...

I am a machinist, I know what Heat treating does to metal, this is not my bike, I am not worried about the parts that are not my job, I will make sure that my part of the build is done correctly, and that's all I can do...

There is a reason for 2 grills...The big one is another one of his projects that he got so that he could fix it and use it, it's been sitting there for about 6 months now and hasn't even been touched, maybe I will fix that next, seeing as how I am the only one around here that actually likes things to be working...And the small one is mine, it's about 6 months old and works perfect, and yes, I hate propane, but it's a lil quicker than charcoal, and with having a kid, sometimes I can't take the time to wait on the charcoal to get ready...

Not saying what this guy is doing. I have no idea. I barely understand those weedeaters you guys ride around anyways.
In all actuality, I don't see how swapping the necks on a bike would really be that illegal, I mean, as long as you have all the paperwork and can prove that everything belongs to you...Maybe as long as you file for a salvage title due to a rebuild? I mean, how to ppl customize their frames and make a stock HD streched and chopped, technicaly you have to build a whole new frame...Am I wrong on that one?

HD frames are a little different, as steel has different material properties than aluminum alloys....

i'm getting ready to do some welding on my bandit frame, but it's steel too.

i don't think i'd ride on an aluminum frame that had been welded.

I had to have my old f4i frame rewelded and reinforced. It was done by a expert and it broke again recently as well. Since I have been riding motorcycles I have NEVER seen a frame that was rewelded hold up.

Seems to me transferring a frame nech with VIN plate from a damaged frame to a new frame is no more illegal than the dealer stamping a previous frame's VIN number into a new replacement frame (all replacement frames come from the dealer with blank VIN's).

As long as the the owner has supporting documentation for the VIN and properly represents the repalcment to a perspective buyer I don't believe that he has broken any laws.
