I know I want to try em, but at almost $50 for some headphones? I normally rock skull candy's, but now i'm maybe thinking of trying em. Especially since the gf's mutt decided to use my earbuds as floss.

I paid $50 to a couple different pairs of Sony Earbuds and was never satisfied. My GF hooked me up with a pair Big Eat custom molded ear phones and they're expensive but I'd say that they're worth the money after riding with them on a 2 week long trip through Mexico and any other trip over 10 miles.

+1

After going through several pairs of $70-$100 ear-phones I finally gave in and purchased a set of Big Ear custom ear phones. Best money I've ever spent on a motocycling accessory (non-safety of course) hands down. Excellent sound quality, wear them all day long comfortable and extremely durable.

Like them so much I ordered a set of plain ear plugs 6 months later (made from my original mold that Big Ear keeps on file permananently) that I use for shooting.

Had mine done at the last IMS Motorcycle show in Houston but they normally have a booth at just about every motorcycle rally. You can also contact one of the local distributors (I pulled the Houston provider's off their site for ya) who should be able to make the mold's):

I started with the Shure E3c and have not looked back. Upgraded to the E4g after the E3s got tangled in the sprocket(dont ask).

Couple of hundred bucks sounds extreme, but when you are talking about your hearing, high end ear buds are worth every penny.

Plain ol ear plugs do not block out ambient noise. The high end ones are like ear plugs, you can leave them off just to block out noise. When you DO turn them on, you only have to barely crank them up saving your hearing.

And I am talking about all the time, not just while riding. Its been shown that regular ear buds harm your hearing because how high you have to set them as opposed to sound isolating ones.

BTW noise reduction with these is around 37db. Depending on what insert you use too.
