Well, heres something to ponder, maybe X or another MSF coach could help out.
Grubz was riding down 610, maintaining his lane (we'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he was going 65mph) when he notices a pack (not 1 or 2) bikes bearing down on him at triple digit speeds.

What is the better action to take? Try and get out of the way? Or stay your course?
If the pack of bikes is closing that quickly it seems to me that changing lanes would increase the chances of a collision. The onus is on the closing bikers to get around the slower traffic (regardless of the legality).
Seems to me that if Grubz would have started changing lanes there would have been a ripple of confusion through the pack.

Its like when two people are running towards each other and they both try to dodge the other person, one person goes left and the other person goes to their right and slam right into each other.

i think he did what he was supposed to. like you said had he started trying to move, with that many bikes coming at you it wouldnt have gave all the other bikes time to react...as it was the one that hit him couldnt react.

Thats what I was thinking. This all probably happened in just a couple of seconds. So the bike that clipped him obviously just BARELY avoided catastrophe, but what if Grubz had tried to get out of the way and moved a foot or two in the direction the closing bike was going, essentially moving his bike directly into the path of the closing bike. THAT would have been really bad, and it would have left no one any time to react.

Sounds like Mr. Grubz did the right thing.

So, GAU-8, out of curiousity, what do you think he should have done differently?

finally someone who listens... Man I swear if I would of moved over it would of caused a big wreck so ijust rode my lane. And my speedo said 75-78 and because of sprocket I was really doing 65-70.

I would say... Oh about 90% of the streetbikers around here can't ride for . You know it's true. Slow reaction time, to much bike for the dumbass riding it, trying to show off ect.

Talking as one of the best riders in houston (yes, that's me) I can personally say there are A TON of no-talent dumb fcks that attempt to do "a loop" (most of the time just to impress fellow riders, when in reality could care less)

Trust me i know, I'm pretty sure the only people that could out-ride me around 610 is Mark, rodeo, jeremy, Brandt and curt anyone else doesn't stand a chance, sorry everyone else is a noob.

i had someone pass me close like that one night...didnt touch me but all it wouldve taken was me to move the slightest out of my side of the lane. i know exactly how grubz felt when they came up on him....i was . it was actually one of my friends that did this to me, i guess he trusted i was goin to stay put when he did it. this definitly couldve ended differently had grubz been a new rider and panicked or did something they didnt expect.
