Ya know...I would. NOT because there are more options, but because how I now see that the CMRA really loses when we do things they way I did. Before I was involved in racing, I didnt care..but now that I have seen the CMRA, in action, first hand...I want to do my part, however small it is.

And thats about as honest as I can be...all the bullshit aside.

I already went through the licensing, but that's cool that folks have more options now
Hope it's a success all across the board.

on this note, maybe it would be a good idea to have an option to pay for someone else to corner work for you.
just saying.
i would just to get it done a little quicker.

That was in place several years ago but went away because folks had sub-standard replacements and it defeats the purpose of the program.

The CMRA doesn't have people corner work to punish them, it's to help them learn about racing. Corner working will give a perspective that is unique and there is lots of learning to be had out there. Besides, it's just two days, I honestly don't see the big deal.

+1 on both CDILL's and Tom's comments. I am actually excited about cornerworking, I have never done it and will try to get the best of it.

For those that don't know, you don't have to be satisfying a licensing obligation to cornerwork. The club almost always needs folks to help out with this task. Without cornerworkers there's no racing. It's that simple.

If nothing else, that is worth the effort to cornerwork. You will get to see some of the fast guys up close and personal in the turns, and can learn a lot.

Right now the BOD is looking into how this program will be administered.
Each track day organization will apply to teach the riders school.
They will submit their designated candidates to be reviewed, approved, and sent off to C.R.I. (certified race instructor) school. Each candidate will be trained on the materials and processes for licensing. There are many things to work out.

Materials, test, certificate, t-shirt, fees, and mini licensing.
We are also trying to come up with someone to administer this program.
As we get closer to these answers we'll let you know.
The new BOD members will be "seated" in their positions some time in mid December and we can hammer out the details before the end of 2009.

Honestly, when I first got my license, I didn't want to cornerwork...and to be honest, it kinda sucked. My first day cornerworking was the Mini Endurance at Oak Hill, and it was cold, rainy, muddy, and icky...and my second day cornerworking was the sprint races at Eagle's Canyon....and it was cold, rainy, muddy, and icky...

BUT, I learned to APPRECIATE the cornerworkers. There's a lot going on out there that you don't realize, and when/if you DO go down, it made me understand WHY cornerworkers can't always make it over to your bike immediately, and why they may not notice you right away, and so on. It also let me see up close how close some of the racers come through a corner together, how they pass, how they enter and exit the corner - something that I didn't really get exposed to in the rider's school.

Making cornerworking a mandatory requirement was a good call on the CMRA's part, and in my opinion it should continue to be a requirement.
