sv650 specs

well i have been looking at getting a sv650 recently. and was just wondering what the real difference was perfromance wise between the new sv's and the old sv's

The motor in the FI models has 3-4 more horsepower.
The frame on the '03 and up is a little better as well.
From a street aspect I doubt you would ever notice either.

If you find a clean older model I wouldn't hestate getting it.

If you get a newer model you may think twice about the '03, the subframe is 40mm higher than the '04 and up, so you'll have a harder time reaching the ground.

Cant forget the 99-02 sv's are carb and air cooled. 03+ have a nice digital speedo.

ok, thanks for the help, i think what im really looking for is just somthing to get me around town if i end up going away to collage like im planning on. and then picking up somthing like a nsr 50 to play around with.

the only info i could find on the bikes showed the 03 has having a noticable difference in torque compared to the 01, not sure if that was correct or not

Carbed yes, but they are water cooled as well.

Same here, I'm looking to buy a carbed 650 some time in the next year or so. Reminds me a lot like a ducati.....poor mans ducati....make mine nekkid please.

Na, I want mine for commuting, not only does the non s 650 not have clipons(which are comfortable for daily riding) but has lowerd controls and no goofy fairing. I'd be making mine streetfighter-ish
