Thanks Gregg. I am still getting the hang of the new lens. I am having trouble with them being blurry.

Since your still learning I would shoot auto or sports mode this will give u an idea of what settings your camera thinks is best for the given situation. When your looking through the viewfinder and you half press to focus u will see the settings. Later on in the day enter manual mode and try those same settings or ones close to them to see the results

I see your shooting in shutter priority, next time out try manual mode.

Half you have pressing before you shoot to get the subject in focus or just snapping the shot ?

I try to get a focal point first, but it doesn't always work for me. Any suggestions? I have tried full manual before. Shots turned out ok but I am still trying to figure out all the settings.

you should turn the cam to al servo and for action shot use the high shutter speed capture, or try iso around 400 for daytime shots and aroud 50 over a higher number. if you switch the cam to al servo it will do it automatically for you. That what I shot with when I did a football game the other day and im using a EOS-1D Mark IV.

But your shot always looks good when its race time. cheers and try them settings

I don't like the shots with the really high shutter speeds. It just freezes the image and doesn't give it the feel of motion. That is the technique I am trying to master. It is a lot of trial and error but hopefully I will get the hang of it before to long. I was out there just practicing so I tried a few different settings. Some turned out ok. Some did not!
