Edwards was able to secure 5th in the campionship by 1 pt thanks to some help from Spies who got ahead of Dov with 5 laps to go. When Edwards got off the bike his first stop was next door to tell Ben thanks and when interviewed said he gave Ben lots of props.

Later when they interviewed Ben he said he was aware it would help Colin so he put his head down and pushed but that he would have made a move on Dov anyway regardless of Colins position.

It will be intersting to see if the two work together as master and Jedi or if they begin a struggle for who's No 1 on the team. Ben sounds very humble about his chances but has menioned repeatedly that the top 4 guys (Ros, Lor, Sto, Ped) are something special and therby intentionally drawing the line before Edwards. Either way they outa get along better then CE did with toenails.

Toseland lost his way, ruffled too many feathers and ultimately lost access to CE's settings. I don't think Spies will make the same mistakes.
Let us not forget that JT qualified 2nd in his first ever MotoGP outing and finished 6th.................

Their relationship is a no-brainer to me; there is no question about how well they'll work together imho, not even a second thought. My thoughts are that Elbowz will contribute to CEII just as much as CEII contributes to Elbowz during next season- a match made in Heaven as far as I'm concerned.

Just saw that too Thumper! I'm impressed with Spies yet again.

At the same time, where is Colin Edwards today?

Ben may have a better chance for next year than everyone thinks. he is a pretty humble guy so he's going to play it down for the public.

Keep perspective here guys, this is testing and testing only, you never know what the guys are practicing/ running with as far as tires/ suspension/ chassis/ traction controls/ etc...

While it's impressive as hale that Elbowz is up there and running respectable laps, the others may be testing some shoddy compounds or experimental parts that aren't working that day or something.

Just sayin'.

Way to rain on the parade man! I know what you mean. Testing is just that.

It's still nice to see him hit the ground running. Better than when Nicky hot the Duc and when backwards at first...

We have a new engine configuration to help that or are they getting ready for Rossi in 2011

Agreed.. Yet on that note.. Reports say Spies didn't mess with any settings. His improvements came through modifying his riding style throughout the test.
