A little lesson for using english from one of the old bastids...

You guys are smart, for the most part, but something which drives me nuts which I see on here a lot are improper usage of (I'm sometimes guilty):

to v. too:

'to' is a preposition.

Defined:
a. In a direction toward so as to reach : went to the city
b. Towards : turned to me.

'too' is an adverb.

Defined:
a. In addition; also : He's coming along too.
b. More than enough; excessively : She worries too much.
c. To a regrettable degree : My error was all too apparent.

they're v. their v. there:

'they're' is a contraction... well, duh! It's short for 'they are' : They're going to eventually hurt themselves if they don't take the MSF.

'their' is an adjective; possesive for of 'they'

How its used:
Used as a modifier before a noun : their accomplishments; their home town.

'there', like 'too', is in adverb.

Defined:
a. At or in that place : sit over there.
b. To, into, or toward that place : wouldn't go there again.

That is all :icon_bigg

I am curious as to WHAT is "gangsta"?
A language that shows everyone that u have no education?
Why does ANYONE feel they have to talk like that? Think that they are cool?
Do u go to a job interview and talk like that?
Sounds like a bunch of sheep trying to follow what they see on MTV.
Amazing.

There is no point in trying to explain/teach on this board. Like I said in another another thread, it seems like these guys are taught to 'spell it the way it sounds, let THEM figure it out'

Oh, they will post and say... 'I know I am a bad speller' ... so apparently they have learned all they can learn.

u = you
