Lane Splitting Legal?...

Is lane splitting legal in texas? (& before the safety nazis chime in, I'm asking if its legal, not if its a good idea. I already know its a bad idea!)

I thought it was only legal in California. I mean i heard they put a bill in TX congress but never thought it made it through.

Reason I ask is because i'm sitting in my cage at a red light in the middle lane of 249 with a car on my left and a puck-up on my right, & i hear a Harley motor just idling right be hind my a$$! So, i turn to my right and sure enough HPD Motorcycle Cop is behind the truck on my right, but on the line. In fact his front axle was in front of the trucks rear bumper.

Anyways light turns green and the HPD cop starts lane cutting like 4 times in a 1/4 mile stretch (no blue & red lights BTW). See below...
So, Is this a legal maneuver in texas now or is he just abusing power?

It was a little difficult to get a pic of him in the act , but i think you can kinda make it out in the last pic. (ok nvm. Last pic is him just changing lanes but still, He did it like 4 times)

I've seen too many lane splitting accidents to lane split. Then again, I never encounter traffic where I ride. Oh except after that noob forest ride on 45 going north. That was disaster for me.

An example would be: If I'm on the freeway, and traffic is completely stopped due to some accident miles ahead... I will lane split all the way to the next exit, then find another way around to get where I wanna go. If the traffic begins to move slowly, then I'll stay back. Then once it stops again, I'll look around, then continue forward. No way am I gonna sit in that traffic for who knows how long. Could be an hour or more, for all I know.

As far as I can interpret the law, Lane Splitting is not specified in the ordinance as being either legal or illegal; however, it is illegal to share a single lane with any vehicle side by side, in moving traffic. so you may get ticketed for something like careless/reckless driving. I'm sure defense lawyers love the vagueness of the law.
