The Harley

Whats up with Harley riders doing little shots of throttle with the clutch in? freakin everywhere, all the time, its like they just have to go putututtuututVRMptututututuVRMptutututututututuVRM puitututututuVRM at every light they're slowing down for, at every intersection, and in the home depot parking lot ohhh no the engine cant jut *idle* we've gotta make it bounce around like a monkey while we're not even moving.

wtf? I rarely see a sport bike randomly rev, and i dont think ive ever seen a non-harley cruiser do this. for two days ive been trying to find a reason for this and i cant and then some jackass was doing it at 5am on the way to work and wanted to race me on his street glide at the light.

its frackin weird and i need an explanation, damnit.

Old school engines that run carbs would load up (Flood) while at idle. when you would then go to take of the bike would die. I belive people still doing this carries over from the old bike train of though.

It sounds cool. I like to hear it, although sportbikes don't do it as well.

I went to Daytona bikeweek a couple times and 24hrs a day you hear the rumble of Harleys. People blip their throttles so much it made me wonder; "How much gas gets wasted each year, just from Harleys blipping their throttles"?

The simple explanation is the same about everything Harley-esque..

"Because it's cool"

You've never heard the annoying sport bikers pin their throttle and bounce of the rev limiter??? Oh yeah, they're fast!

There's very few shows that my Tivo is set up to record on a regular basis, South Park happens to be one of them. Perfect timing for this episode too considering the Lone Star Rally just happened

I grew up old school. Any bike that would flood at idle either wasn't adjusted properly or carb needed rebuilding.

We do it for fun.

They do it so it wont load up on fuel and die, then be hard to start and spit & sputter afterwards & blow out black smoke..

For me, it's:
South Park
Supernatural
Heroes
Lost (used to do Lost, that show has not been officially boycotted. Too long between seaons)
Glenn Beck

That's it.....not a big tv person, rather be doing other things for the most part.
