The "Perfect" SPORT touring bike

So I am sitting here debating on whether to get something different for my SPORT touring needs.

My definition leans heavily towards the sport side, as opposed to the highway type of touring. Say 500-800 mile long days....

I want something that handles as good as my Bandit, but with longer gearing, a better seat, and less buzz. The old air/oil cooled GSXR motors were just not the smoothest things on the planet, depending on rev range. I wouldn't mind having a little more power, around 120 RWHP now.

I like a quick steering bike.

So that kinda rules out the longer wheelbase and heavier FJR1300 and Concours. Yes they are smooth, but the extra weight and longer wheel base get tiring on roads like Lime Creek or 336.

Same thing with the Busa and Zx14.. yeah, yeah I hear all you guys that can "rail on the backroads".. wide open curves yes, back to back 10-15 mph lets go see.

I looked pretty hard at the ST Triple, but for the money I am not upgrading much, if at all. I have a friend that loves his and says it is butter smooth...

I don't care if I have hard bags and trunk; soft bags are fine and work for me.

The new Bandit 1250 might be an option, but word is they are hard to make more power with, so I am still with the same ride.

So then I started thinking ZX12R with LSL bars.. hmmmm short wheel base, 474# dry, pretty easy to get 175 to the wheel, butter smooth...

Just have to add a couple grand in suspension to get it where I want, and a cruise control, maybe a better screen...

What say you? What is your recipe for a "perfect" SPORT tourer?

I want to ride the Busa Ed.

Did you see that they now make a GSX-R1000 rear end for the Busa? That took my chances of owning a Busa up GREATLY.

Yeah, but not an issue for me. More about what works versus the latest and greatest. The newest Busa and ZX14 are just barely out-horsepowering it now, and a modified one just made the fastest N/A pass ever for a Kawi.

Not to mention, the ZX-14 has always been ugly to me, and the Busa styling leaves me lukewarm.

BTW I rode the latest rendition of the Bandit and was not impressed in any way shape or form.... The front end felt like poo and the engine had no character.

1100xx Blackbird.

With a decent shock and a little fork work it definitely puts the "sport" in sport-tourer.

Smooth, bullet-proof motor and several luggage options when you want to travel more than an hour at a time.
