Glad you're okay dude!

Not been on that road at that particular moment. Or are you just finding reasons to patronize him since he actually AVOIDED a full on collision?

The truck was certainly at fault for the accident... but, could he have avoided the accident all together before or after the truck drivers mistake?

Just having finished my MSF course I think I know what Racer X means by that. Could the accident have been avoided all together if (he) the rider had been a bit more aware of the truck and anticipating what it might do? Either getting side by side or even better just ahead of the truck so he sees you better and can't cut you off, or allowing more space between himself and the next car so that when the truck took his lane he had more time & space to avoid it either swerving or stopping?

Or maybe lane position could have helped. If he was already riding in the right hand portion of his lane (to be more visible to the truck) he could have had much less ground to cover swerving to the right to get out of the way and maybe missed the truck.

Not judging in any way (I was obviously not there), but just my .02 on thinking about trying to come up with ways how it could have maybe been avoided.

That's good that you learned all that stuff in MSF! Smart thinking. It could have been, but maybe not avoided. It's alot easier to make inferences about a situation when you already know the past.

Plus if we don't argue with Racer X, he would have nothing to post about!

Haha lol exactly.

Yea they are just thoughts and hindsight at that, so you never know. Who knows maybe the OP did close to much as he could already, but maybe not. Thinking about it may help one of us think about a future situation before it happens and hopefully avoid a bad outcome.

Glad the injuries were minor.

I sort of agree with this post. It's a good idea to be conservative out there. Never ride in someones blind spot or next to them. Think about making yourself visible in mirrors, etc...

Anticipate someone trying to kill you on the road.
