Goto the Gun show and hold a bunch of different guns and then you'll get an idea as to what fits your hands better while maintaining sight alignment and trigger reach.

I REALLY like the HK P7M13 but gets hot after a few rounds through it, the USP is bulky but decent if you can conceal it. (Glock is slimmer and less bulky)

Then the 1911, can be tailored to fit with a change of parts... SVI/STI for those that want a high cap. 9mm, .38 Super, .40S&W, .45ACP

On GlockTalk their was a thread on how much abuse the Glock can handle, HK has more parts than the glock but even the HK can be a tackdriver. I think in the current issue of Shotgun News HK is submitting an entree to the US Military for trials for the new Service Sidearm, the version entered is the .45ACP and I HOPE TO that it's selected over 9mm, .40S&W. The S&W M&P is classy as well but like the Glock and Springfield XD it is striker fired while the HK has a hammer ala 1911. The HK USP variant entered has adjustable backstraps so it can be tailored to different peoples hands for the best comfort, also looks somewhat smaller than the typical USP. I haven't shot one but held plenty of them and have been following them pretty close since they were introduced. I like the USP expert version or the MK23, longer sight radius and O-ringed barrels are a wee bit more accurate than the standard version. I have shot a P7M13, a VERY nice gun but VERY pricey as well.

I have been carrying/shooting my G35 since maybe around '01, upgraded to a .45ACP 1911 for accuracy and elegance, then to the G34 for practice as 9mm costs about $78 per 1k rounds... These pistols have a 5.3" barrel, 3.5lb triggers, extended slide releases, and extended mag releases which were replaced with stock ones for CCW purposes. Plus 17+1 can come in handy, or for the REALLY paranoid days the 33+1 or the 23+1 140mm mag kits. Picked up a small airweight snub-Nose .357 and carry that at certain times as well. Have a Sig P220 in .45ACP, shot that the other day and the trigger in DA or SA is 10x better than a Beretta's... If I was to choose between a HK and the Sig, the winner would be based off of price alone.

Depends on the area, how I feel, what I have on me, how much time I have, and who I am with.

I have membership down at PSC in Friendswood, only allowed two guests at a time and is a 120 mile or so roundtrip for me so it's an all day affair. PSC has two plate racks, pistols, combat shotgun, skeet, trap, archery, airgun, concrete benchs, wood benches with room for positional rifles, and goes to 300yards. Two local indoor ranges are close to Humble so if Pistols are the game they are good to go. Then Carter's Country, the last time I went their I thought I was going to have to pull my CCW as my life was in danger more than the other people's targets were... ThunderRanch in Conroe; outdoors and think it goes out to 300yds but haven't been their in a few years.

btw: Do you know how to shoot?

that sounds fun as , I wanna go. My gf can shoot better w/ a pistol than I can, how sad :(, lol. I wanna get one though. I was talking to this guy and heard lots of good things about the G19 but the lack of a safety makes me weary.
