, i will take the risk of a ticket by a cop vs people writing down my plates for any number of reasons...
I mean how much is that ticket? It doesn't sound like a moving violation anyway!

A full copy of the DPS code can be found here:
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/msb/doc...ycleLaws08.pdf

The important thing to remember is that DPS only states that the plate must be attached to the "rear" of the vehicle (yes this code is specific to cars but it applies to motorcycle rear plates as well).

See the following exerpt from the DPS site:

How many license plates am I required to display?
State law requires that you display two (2) license plates, one to the front and one to the rear. Placement or mounting of license plates is not defined.

*This guidance is referenced in TXDOT's requirements to properly display the registration certificate. DPS does not inspect the license plate itself, but instead inspects the license plate lamp.

Sine the offense is solely based on the definition of the word "rear" all you have to do to have the case dismissed is show that the definition of the word does not implicitly define "rear" as the rear-most position. Webster's defines the word rear as the following:

1: the back part of something:
2: the part of something located opposite its front <the rear of a house>
3 : the space or position at the back <moved to the rear>

As you can see, none of these definitions specifically identify the "rear" as being the furthest point from the front.

In most cases, an license plate infraction is considered a "fix-it" ticket where if you can show proof the infraction has been resolved (like a phot of the corrected plate location) the ticket will be dismissed with no more than $10 fee.

Sweet that's awesome Morvegil finally some action on my neck of the woods I patrol near that area, its part of Spring Branch which is my turf. I'd let ya off though, but yea some of those guys, Hedwig, and one in particular in Spring Valley ya need to watch out for. I was in uniform driving my personal car, and he informed me I was speeding 40 in a 35. What do ya ride so I can keep an eye out for ya
