Patrick, I don't have a firm answer on this, but I never knew they could be disabled as they are a part of the airbag system in the GM cars. I recall that the BCM is what holds the data and I am unaware of anyone being able to turn off that feature and still have the car able to run.

This has been a few years for me though, so maybe someone found a way. Nick at Fastlane could probably answer it better though.

I think they are made to NOT be disabled, but I know next to nothin bout em.
