noob forest ride today (man down!!!)

Well it was my friends first time going though the forest but thankfully it won't be his last bike is totaled. He's already got his eye on a new R1. He was riding a mint condition 04' gixxer 1k. He actually got 3 compliments at the shell station before we left on how great the bike looked. Ill have the pics of the crash and what it looks like in my garage soon. He's doing fine suprisingly(sp) considering they said he was tossed about 20-30 feet over the handlebars. He's got little scratches on his hands and stiff all over but that's about it. Ill probably up load the pics on Monday when I get to the office (dang G1 won't let me do anything). He said he will be back riding in no time.

I was one of those looking at the '04 Gix 1000 before you guys left the Shell. I also commented that he needed a new rear tire.

I am saddened to hear that the bike is history, but happy to hear that he will be OK. F/C insurance?

Let's see the pics....

I take issue with what I highlighted in red. Don't ya know us old folks are hard of hearing, therefore there is no such thing as "too loud"

Man, yea I only saw the top part of his bike in the ditch but he seemed ok, he was sitting down and he didn't look injured too badly... I hope he gets another bike soon and is up and riding again soon!

Yeah he remebers everything. He's really cause he said he will never find a bike as clean as that one. And I think everyone and their moma told him he needed a new tire. That thing looked like a mickey thompson drag slick.

I don't know exactly what happened I didn't ask. I was I'm the idiot group up front. I saw the other thread saying group rides and how we can make it better. I specifically went over conering how to brake where too look when he came too my house that morning. Also I told him at the stop sign before we took the right on to 149 "RIDE YOUR RIDE NOT ANYONE ELSES" he even told me once they towed the bike back to my house that he was comfortable with pace he was driving. In fact going down honea egypt he was right behind the lead pack.

I am glad hes ok. He faired very well and Im glad that PMed lady was there in the car. Also, props to sangria7 for taking care and watching over him. I appreciated the text and updates.

My group came up on him about 5 minutes after the accident; I was leading the slower noob group so that puts some perspective in it.

If he needed that type of instruction, he should have come to Dustin when he did say "lets talk if you dont know these roads, havent ridden w this group before and we'll put you in the back."

Just a thought.

dang, sorry about the accidence and glad he's okay.

Offtopic question...I'm a newbie and was thinking of joining a newbie ride...but on second thoughts. Newbie = ought to do some mistakes...bunch of newbies = bunch of mistakes and even though I'm careful, some fools might make a dumb move and take me out along. True? Possible?? May be it's safer to stick to the careful, experienced riders group??

Ride w people you are comfortable with and those that will ride at your level. If you feel you have to play catch up or push yourself then its not benefiting your experience.
