67 in a 35

well coming home from school, i was like 1 mile away from my house and got pulled over. I was about to turn around in the middle of the street because the cop was ahead of me and go the wrong direction on a empty road into my street and park it but i am a nice guy you know. what is the best way to deal with this? i'm guessing its going to be 300 dollar ticket... i'm not worried about it being on my record so much because i don't get tickets as often as you guys. this is my first ticket on the bike and just wanted to know if they are more harsh because it was a motorcycle and not a car? well after i got the ticket i saw like another cop in that short mile parked waiting for speeders on my way home. i wasn't speeding when i was going home but he still turned on his lights just to warm me not to. if you live in the woodlands then becareful they're out everywhere tonight.

Also be careful on I-45 from like West Road all the way up to Conroe. DPS has some SNEAKY hiding spots and Shanandoah are pricks, then you have HPD running Laser trying to bank on the court money...

If you pay it expect insurance to go up INSTANTLY, which department issued the citation? Being that it's double the speed limit you can try to use a lawyer with a credible record as i'm sure it will be the same amount of money. Most times the officer "might" lower the speed limit on the ticket to around 25mph or less over the limit to allow you to take Defensive Driving, were you polite and respectful? Wearing your gear or squiding?

DPS and HPD armed with Laser sucks, V1 beats everything else and might be a worthwhile "in your immediate future" upgrade.

... sorry mike... wouldn't wish that on anyone... :eh:

one word man - attorney...

since you were going 25+ over... so you're not eligible for defensive driving...

just postpone it as long as you can & find a good atty...

Wow that sux - at least you didn't run so Racer X can't blast you on how stupid and irresponsible you would have been. Plus our bikes are like Cadillacs - sometimes we don't realize how fast we're going. Good luck Mike. Fight my brother - fight the power, you got to fight the power that be.

Sprecher is a good one. Or you can go in on your own and take deferred adjudication, but you will have to go speed limit for 3-5 months or risk getting two tickets on your record.

Your insurance will not instantly go up unless you change policies or get in a wreck and they check your driving record. Since it costs money to check your driving history, they dont check unless they have a reason to. I have some unmentionables on my record and my rates are the same as they've always been, low. Another year and those bad things will clear my history and I will be able to look for a new bike again.

I wouldnt just pay the ticket though when a good lawyer can just get it dismissed or deferred at worst. If you want to save a few bucks, no lawyer and deferred is a good route...but if you dont trust yourself, the lawyer will save you a lot of looking over your shoulder during the probation by getting it dismissed completely in most cases.

unless I'm mistaken, you can't get deferred adjudication if it's more than 30mph over the posted speed limit
