Question Why did you buy a SPORTbike?

I bought mine to wheelie it, go fast and pick up slimmies. If I was just gunna cruise around town I would of bought a cruiser.

See where I'm going with this...

I don't own a sportbike but I bought my motorcycle to commute, go on road trips with my road buddies, and for a completely different form of transportation. It's like learning to drive a car all over again...just as exciting There is an economic reason for buying a motorcycle too...it's cheaper, cheaper to maintain, loses virtually no resale value (as compared to cars) and it's faster and more fuel economic than anything on the road. My goal is to go tracking soon with a different bike...a SPORTbike

I chose to ride a sportbike cuz im asian. I wouldnt look right riding a harley / cruiser. crotch rocket all the way. Plus sportbikes have more manueverability when you have to move in a pinch

Didnt buy it....I was trying to sell my turbo kit from my mustang and this guy calls me up and wants to trade.....I couldnt say no. I used to ride dirtbikes and I think eventually it would have been inevitable tho cuz almost all my close friends have bikes.

I see some good replys, however I think y'all are missing the point...

Why buy a sportbike if your gunna go the speed limit, not clutch it up, not race, not stunt it, not do anything it is intended to do..

I don't have a modern sport bike, I bought mine because I've been in love with cafe racers since i can remember. The added bonus is that it is sporty enough to hit the twisties and track soon and laid back enough to do whatever I want. Plus, she's fine lookin as well

I enjoy riding a bike at 30mph...it's a completely differnet experience from a car. In fact, when in traffic with popo, I have no problems doing the speed limit. When in my car though, it's a lot more uncomfortable doing the speed limit.

I spend $8 yesterday in gas. Had I used my car for everything, I would have spent maybe $20

My next bike will be a sport bike because;
I want to try it.
I am addicted to acceleration and fairly poor
I look stoopid (sp) wearing a full face helmet and full body armor on a cruiser (well at least from the looks I get from other cruisers). Oh, wait this would lead me to a beemer touring bike not a RR, nevermind.

I don't have one now 'cause I am a noob, I thought the insurance was cheaper (not for the SV) and I wanted to find out how in control I was before giving myself more rope to hang with.
I am thinking Busa, SV (650 probably), or CBR depending on price, availability and ergonomics.
