Some come with a plastic applicator thing that makes it easier to get straight. Have never done it myself, but heard the plastic thing makes it easier to put on.

Was that so hard?

I would suggest the CBR Forum response that is right before the break.

I have done 5 or 6 bikes. Put it one stands and spin the wheels as you apply it. Simple!

buy the one with the aplicator, its on ebay for like 15 bucks and it reflective tape !

then you brake the tab off, flip it over and run it on the outside of the rim, just lift the bike and spin the tire

take your time, and press it down after a couple inches and keep doing that till its done then go to other side !

I bought pre curved strips. 4 strips for each side of the wheel. It was $15 on ebay. Did it with the wheels on and it took about 10 minutes to complete.

Having access to your own vinyl cutting machine capable of cutting vinyl up to 30" wide eliminates the drama of putting on rim tape.

I just cut a circle of vinyl (3/16" thick) that is layed down on the edge of the wheel in one piece. Since there is no seam, the stripe looks painted and you don't have the issue with the end lifting up.
