need help APSAP before i end up doing something dumb

i was building my sis a computer today and i ran into a lil poblem when it comes down to the front panel switch/LED header....

heres the set-up on the motherboard

HD_LED_P(+) [] [] FP PWR/SLP(+)
HD_LED_N(-) [] [] FP PWR/SLP(-)
RESET_SW_N(-) [] []POWER_SW_P(+)
RESET_SW_P(+) [] []POWER_SW_N(-)
RSVD_DNU [] [] KEY

now the wires on the atx case have a power led has a 2 pin but has three holes, H D D led has 2 pin, power sw has 2 pin, and reset has 2 pin, everthing fits except for the power led bc there is only 2 pins on the mortherboard but not on in the wires, ive heard of cutting it down the middle and just connecting it btu i dont knwo if i should do it, any other sudjestions??? i think thats why i cant boot up the computer either, all i get is the fans turning on and no bios screen

I was confused by your diagram, but in the past when I had a 3 hole plug and only 2 pins on the mobo, you can use a knife or something to pull back the plastic and you can slide out the wire with the metal tip and place it back in the hole next to the other wire.

:dontknow:

I'm not even sure if that's what you were asking, but that's my answer and I am sticking to it.

been down this road more times than id care to mention, and yes, its basicly no big deal, though it can seem like a confusing and scary thing at the time.

either way will work, cut down the middle, or if it fits with just moving a wire over and having part of the plug hang off. as long as the contact is there on the pin its supposed to be on and it is secure it should be fine.

i wouldnt think that the power led would cause you not to get a bios, but who knows. motherboards get weirder and weirder these days. it could be a failsafe type of thing.

good luck, take your time, and dont get frustrated with it.
