neither one of you discussed a price after the "redo" was negotiated??? I would think the original price should still be the price...or at most $75 X 2...not $400...thats obsurd.

no he just said he was going to fix it and i left. absurd is right, when he first said $400 i just looked at him for like 5 seconds and he started scratching his head.

What really adds the cherry to this is that Chris Romeo off this board gave me that tank so my bike could be complete. I was hoping a shop owner on this forum could give me a good plan of action but guess not, ill let you guys know how it worked out tomorrow.

Go inspect the paint work for quality. Take a friend, or better two for moral support and eyewitnesses. If you have a cheap voice recorder use it, or call your friend's voice mail on speaker before you go in.

Once the tank is in your hands tell him to get bent and hand him a c note. If he even so much as touches you, threatens you, call the cops and file assault charges on him. What a douche.

I'm in the bidness (repair side) and it's between you and him personaly.

Unless it's a freind or someone you REALLY trust get it in writing.

Don't pester the police, they will tell you what everyone else here has.

It's civil.

Sounds like a pretty legitimate plan of action.

Hope it works out for ya today however you end up handling it.

Unfortunately, this is a civil matter. The best thing to do is to pay with a credit card and dispute the charge and not sign anything. That way it can go to court in your favor. If you pay cash you will never see it back!!

If you pay for it and then stop payment, it could hurt you if he takes you to court. You might try a compromise first because a judge might just split the difference. If you can't come up with an agreement then go to small claims court

you should have asked him if you can inspect it one more time before you pay him. once he hands it to, throw that tank on the ground as hard as you can and then tell him he can keep it...
