good investment for wifi

ok so i have a tendency to get bored real easily and buy stuff that i could have a use for it but not at the moment, well not this time, a few weeks ago i was a best buy and bought this lil wifi adapter..basically what it does is it gives u a hot spot in ur own home, all u have to do is hook it up to ur usb while ur computer is online and it is suppose to work in theory, welll after a few hrs of forums and web sites i finally figured it out,so now it works smoothly, i mainly use it for my psp ventures in the online game world but its a secured spot so no access is allowed...no reason for this thread i was just letting u guys know that u can spend 40 bucks and have wireless net in ur home
psp wifi max

The apartments I live in will not let timewarner onto my property....there for no internet. And both DSL services are not availabile in my location..... so , whats a guy to do?.....

I went thru several setups...... spent alot at frys, returned 2 AP's and some other junk because they didnt work. As of today this is what I have....

3 wrt54g's (hacked and power output is at 210mw, one is connected to my friends modem, one at my place, and the other in her garage acting as a repeater of the other two.

1 crappy (low gain) indoor antenna placed outside her garage, hooked to the middle router pointing in my direction.

linksysdistance

lol, if it looks far...its because it IS Im saying anywhere from 1000-1200 feet.

Im getting a modest 4.1 down .386 up

my lag times on CS are actually not bad or noticable at all.

I plan on either making or buying some high gain outdoor direction antennas in hopes to improve things.....but IM HAPPY WITH WHAT I HAVE.:icon_bigg

So does this mean I can cancell my DSL and get the Wifi from Bestbuy? Sounds too easy, but if it works, that's a better way to go. Not needin' a router and all. Kind of like wire-pool ( carpool ) I mean.

Wireless sucks for games. To much latency but, I don't play games anymore. So, no wires for me.

we sell netgear and linksys and every other week one of them is normaly 40-50 bucks, more if you want the speed booster (altho speed boster dosnt really do anything for your internet connection)

the one you paid 80 for would prob be 60 at my work right now, but thats ok cause i paid like 100 for it a few years ago lol
